Excellent quality and value. Good location, out of the main congestion of the city. Easy city access by city bus. Wonderful swimming pool. I would reccomed this hotel and stay there again if I was in Rome.
Location was quite acceptable although the hotel is not in the center of Rome. The pool was the main reason to choose the hotel and it was nice to cool down in the afternoon. The staff was accommodating.
Some hotel staff is more helpful than others.
Gem of a hotel. Location fabulous and perfect in the hot August sun. Pool was terrific and staff very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.Wonderful to have the outside cafe by the pool and in the garden. Would definitely stay here again.
Rooms were quite small but they were extremely clean and comfortable and very cool - which was wonderful!
staff were great and very helpful - location was nice
bedroom was a bit noisy during the night as someone up above or adjacent to our room was dragging furniture about
The location of the Hotel is good. The Restaurant staff for dinner and breakfast were very good. The underground garage was a welcome advantage.
The hotel, while being good to very good, was over priced for the room. We were a couple with a triple room but the room was only average size.
The hotel is in a good position slightly away from the main part of the city but within 20 minutes walking distance of Vatican City through a beautiful park with stunning views over the Rome. A square with good restaurants (range of prices), market, evening entertainment (street performers) is about 10 minutes walk away down the hill. Taxis and buses are very easy to find should the walking get too much. We would use this hotel again due to location, small but well maintained gardens and a beautiful pool.
No adverse comments about the hotel or staff. However, if you have walking difficulties or are unfit getting around in Rome will be tough as the pavements and roads are cobbled, it is very hilly and drivers manic.
Just the pool
The pool times are too short. You have to use swimcap and they charge you 5 euros with you dont have one! What a cheap way to win money. They dont have a 24h room service, plus from 2pm to 7pm they dont offer ANY kind of food in their restaurants and bar. The hotel is old style and nobody carried our bags or gave us a special attention.
I was stayed there two previous time and I reccomended to my family.
The outside of the hotel is beautiful; an immaculate and very well attended pool area. The hotel staff are friendly and always ready to help. The location is great once you get your bearings. There are secret steps everywhere which lead to the River. It is very easy to get lost though.
The inside of the hotel is very dated. Our room was tiny, the two windows opened onto a view of a wall. The air conditioning did not work which was uncomfortable. The breakfast selection, catered for european travellers, offering choices of chocolate cakes, hot dog sausages and cheeses. The cooked bacon resembled heavily fried pancetta. Although expensive (8 euros for 2 small bottles of coke) we did eat at the pool side bar. The meals here were the best we had sampled in Rome.
Excellent large swimming pool, comfortable sun loungers. Friendly staff. Food and drinks were a reasonable price for a hotel. Rooms were clean. Travestere District of Rome is a good location if you want to be slightly away from the main tourist sights. I would recommend staying in this area of Rome.
It was a ten minute walk up a hill from bars restaurants etc. A beautiful spot but could prove tiring to walk up to hotel in the heat.
the staff at Grand Hotel Gianicolo were very helpful, from recommending restaurants to making the bookings for us (and there were a lot!). The pool is also very nice and was such a nice treat to come back to after a long hot day of sight - seeing.
Thought the hotel was great ,just how a grand italian hotel should be ,quality furnishings and finishes ,all marble floors .these tend to last the test of time and dont date .very good pool area . the manager runs a nice tight ship . good breakfasts up on the roof .all in all great value
The location, the swimming pool after a day of sightseeing, the excellent buffet breakfast and the location.
This is a beautiful hotel with a lot of old world charm. It has a great, large swimming pool. We walked to the nearby parks for beautiful views of the city. The only drawback with this hotel is that it is a little out of the way if you want to walk to all the sites. There are buses you can take to get into the city. It is set in a nice neighborhood though. It is an excellent value.
The Grand Hotel del Gianicolo is a traditional very well located hotel. Situated about 600 m from the restaurants and bars of Trastevere. The hotel has a beautiful view of Rome, located on the top of the hill surrounded by a lovely green mature garden. The hotel has a wonderful swimming pool, good bar and restaurant with a very friendly service. Next time I will stay there again and take friends.
